On October 31 2017, DigiCert acquired Symantec Website Security and PKI products and services. This brings exciting new opportunities to the website security industry and a new partnership for SSL247® with DigiCert.

From December 1 2017, all new, renewed or reissued Symantec, GeoTrust, Thawte and RapidSSL SSL certificates will be issued from DigiCert’s hierarchy and infrastructure. Existing certificates will continue to work, but may be mistrusted by certain browsers in the coming months.
When installing your certificates, please take extra care to ensure that you use the new root and intermediate certificates attached to the your certificate fulfilment emails and to not use any root or intermediate that has previously been sent to you.

Google’s proposal on SSL certificates issued before June 1, 2016
Google submitted a proposal stating that in August 2017, Google’s Chrome browser (version 62) will gradually begin mistrusting SSL certificates issued before June 1, 2016 by Symantec, GeoTrust, Thawte and RapidSSL.
